Earlier this year, Comedian Louis C.K. told Joe Rogan the border should be open because “It shouldn’t be so great here in America.” https://www.foxnews.com/media/louis-ck-calls-open-borders-end-global-inequality-shouldnt-great-here-america
“My feeling is they should open it-the border, let everybody pour in, and then the answer which is ‘well then there will be all these problems.’ Yes, there should be,” he said. “It shouldn’t be so great here, is what I’m saying, in America.”
I am willing to sacrifice, even suffer, for long term benefits for myself or others, but why suffer for no discernible benefit? Mr. C.K. offers none. Further, as the story unfolds in 2023, it appears Louis C.K. is not willing to make any sacrifices himself. Mr. Comedian sounds well educated and articulate, but he and others who lecture us on ethics and values are not actually very bright. Maybe he is sincerely trying to be ethical and honest (I don’t comment on those qualities), but it is apparent he is a dummy.
Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent,
and discerning if they hold their tongues. Proverbs 17:28

Mr. Comedian’s main point during this interview is that it is wrong that American lives be made better by excluding the rest of the world from our country. He explains at length that Americans are doing great harm to others around the world in order to cling to what we have here in America. According to him, the better we have it here in America, the more the rest of the world suffers by being excluded; he concocts an evil paradigm in which we exploit the rest of the world by simply making the best of our own lives. You would think he was a Harvard educated philosopher instead of a high school graduate and comedian.
I am always willing to consider others’ arguments, but the first problem with his is that America isn’t excluding the rest of the world. According to this 2019 Gallup poll, the US ranked the sixth most accepting (of 149 countries) of immigrants. That’s a pretty good ranking. https://news.gallup.com/poll/320678/world-grows-less-accepting-migrants.aspx

Furthermore, few other countries have the rich history of immigration our nation has. The US. immigration numbers have risen and fallen over time, but immigration has been a constant throughout our history. France gave us the Statute of Liberty in 1876 to commemorate America’s commitment to immigration. Immigration rose to even greater heights during the years following as millions poured into Ellis Island around the turn of the 20th century. Immigration, understandably hit low points during the Great Depression and World War II, but has risen again dramatically in the 80 years since. Today, migrants making up an ever increasing portion of our populace. What is Mr. Comedian talking about? Still, he lectures us for being exclusionary. It sounds good to a base that hates MAGA Republicans, but this talking point is not based on facts.

Perhaps, his point is that limiting immigration is the real problem. But then: why are limits a bad thing? Shouldn’t everything have a limit? Haven’t we all learned in our own lives: too much of a good thing (too much chocolate, alcohol, leisure, etc.) eventually loses value? All of us realize the value of immigration, but we would rather it not be unrestricted and uncontrolled. Per the U.S. House report, border crossings from Mexico have doubled since 2019 https://homeland.house.gov/2023/09/26/factsheet-the-biden-mayorkas-border-crisis-breaks-its-own-record/. This has led to problems such as large volumes of illegal drugs (which have killed hundreds of thousands of Americans), hundreds of people on the terrorist watch list attempting to cross the border, and tens of thousands of criminals entering our country. But, Mr. C.K. says: why should we have it so good? We should adapt and learn to deal with these problems caused by too much immigration.
Of course, during his interview with Joe Rogan, Mr. Comedian gets to the real talking point: by limiting immigration, the Right is excluding brown people. Forget all those other problems, Mr. Comedian has once again revealed racism is the true nature of this situation:
“Like when liberals try to say-its like the dumbest position they get into, it’s like ‘we can’t keep letting them in here, gotta keep them out, but we really like them, and it’s great that they’re brown,’ and ‘sorry,’” he said. “Then the right takes over, and they sound racist and the left takes over, and they sound stupid.’”
Refer back to my first point: you sound stupid Mr. Comedian. I have never listened to your comedy, but I hope it is better than your philosophy. Our world would be better if you stick to comedy and spare us your foolishness. You said we shouldn’t exclude the rest of the world. We never have and nobody is proposing it today. I, like most sane people, say we should limit immigration, not end it. America is only 4% of the world’s population. How many of the the remaining 7.8 billion world residents must we let in before we can establish our non-racist bona fides with you? You’ve provided no evidence for calling us racists. You parrot the same stupid talking points, the only ones your side knows apparently.
This genius’s sloppy thinking so typical. I think he doesn’t actually think for himself. He tells Joe Rogan, American lives are diminished, brought back to reality, when our borders are opened. That is a good thing when America becomes just an ordinary place, like every other country, when there are no borders? Why come to this great place if coming here means that it is not such a great place anymore?
Perhaps he feels guilt about living so well himself. “We shouldn’t live in gated communities, ” he says. “It is just not good for us.” That statement is actually one with merit. Jesus told us it can be quite difficult to live a moral life when we have too much, when we are preoccupied with things of this world. Still I have a news flash, for Mr. Comedian: ” the overwhelming majority of us don’t live in gated communities. We’re not as rich as you.” Mr. Comedian lives in fancy multi-million dollar penthouse, in Greenwich Village:

Perhaps this is the twisted message he is sending: you and I need to feel guilty for our far more modest lifestyles, so Mr. Comedian can assuage his guilt for living in this very nice home in the heart of New York City?

What Hapens Once the Doors Are Opened?
Well, the doors have been wide open the last few years. Have things evened out for all our residents as Mr. Comedian would like? Mr. Comedian still lives in his fancy gated penthouse apartment while Mexican immigrants live in places like the sprawling Colony Ridge complex:

Colony Ridge is a housing development which is marketed to recent immigrants, many of them illegal. Is life better in Colony Ridge? Perhaps it is better than where these immigrants came from, but is this what Mr. Comedian envisioned when he said we should open the borders?
https://nypost.com/2023/10/05/murders-cartels-squalor-inside-haven-for-illegal-aliens/
it offers owner financing to prospective buyers, meaning undocumented migrants can bypass the credit rating and proof of residency required for traditional bank loans.
But once they put down a small down payment, buyers have to pay credit card-style interest rates of up to 15 percent as well as hefty fees for water and sewage hookup.
Opponents accuse the Harris brothers of preying on people, especially migrants, by advertising a 1950s-style fantasy of suburban home ownership that in reality, they allege, is a vast, shoddily constructed, environmentally unsafe trailer park run on predatory lending practices.
The Mexican cartels apparently now have a base within the U.S. to operate. That’s good for their business, so some immigrants are indeed much better off. Is this what Mr. Comedian intended?
Both locals and law enforcement sources told The Post that they believe the Sinaloa and Gulf cartels bought property here early and have considerable influence.
Liberty County Sheriff Bobby Rader said recently that his department doesn’t have enough officers to properly patrol the settlement, which he described as something of a no-go zone. “I’ve heard rumors that the cartel is buying up these houses,” he said, without offering evidence.
You can get other perspectives on the Colony Ridge Development from the Washington Post and other one-channel media, ones that claim the description of Colony Ridge, along with an investigation of it by Texas Governor Abbot, is overblown. Of course, they tell us the same nonsense about race as well. Perhaps Colony Ridge is not quite as bad as some claim, but how is this same scenario playing in New York which as migrants flee to the interior of the country:
The mayor of New York, Eric Adams, has said an increase in migration would “destroy” the city, seemingly blaming the Biden administration for failing to provide federal support as much as the Republican governors who have sent asylum seekers north.

Immigration will destroy New York? Those are strong words. Could it mean Mayor Adams is a racist too? Does Mayor Adams know of the Comedian philanthropist within the midst of his great city? There is room available at Mr. Comedian’s penthouse. Mr. Comedian’s family and other rich New Yorkers live alone in their fancy homes and gated communities while so many New York residents have such great need. Why should the celebrities have it so good? Given Mr. Comedian’s earlier rhetoric, I am sure he can do his part now that the problem is at his very doorstep. Please, sir, set the example for us.
I wonder too if New York Governor Hochul is a racist as well?
“It is too open right now,’’ Hochul flatly told CBS’s “Face the Nation’’ “We want [Congress] to have a limit on who can come across the border,’’ said the governor, who has been criticized in the past for going too easy on the White House over the debacle.
“People coming from all over the world are finding their way through, simply saying they need asylum, and the majority of them seem to be ending up in the streets of New York, and that is a real problem for New York City,” she said.
Perhaps one channel media uses a different standard when judging comments from prominent Democrat leaders. After all, Governor Hochul showed great empathy offering immigrants in Texas the great “cloak of comfort” in December 2021:
Our message to the world is, ‘Send us your people, send us those who need the cloak of comfort that we can demonstrate as New Yorkers with big hearts and open arms, and we’ll provide a safe haven.’
Yes, Governor Hochul cares despite being fed up. Still, by her own standard, she is a racist.
Maybe all is not so well in other places either. It appears, prominent Illinois Democrats too are fed up with the situation:
https://www.cnn.com/2023/10/03/politics/white-house-chicago-migrant-crisis-tension/index.html
Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson confronted top White House officials late Sunday, demanding they take fast and concrete steps to address a migrant crisis they believe is about to reach a breaking point in the Windy City, according to two people on the call.
Are Illinois Democrats racist too? Have they too abandoned the great cloak of comfort?
Perhaps we should look at the ultimate standard, the president of the United States. Surely, he too is not a racist? Surely, the president, the paragon of morality for us all, is not succumbing to the demands of those evil MAGA Republicans who want to limit illegal drugs and influxes of terrorists? Yet, Biden’s current Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said the following this week:
“There is presently an acute and immediate need to construct physical barriers and roads in the vicinity of the border of the United States in order to prevent unlawful entries into the United States in the project areas pursuant to sections 102(a) and 102(b) of [the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996].”

Even President Biden is a racist now? Furthermore, I thought border walls did no good. What is he doing building a useless wall in Texas? And how come he hasn’t torn down the one around the White House yet?
Following this stunning announcement, Fox Reporter Peter Doocy asked Biden’s Press Secretary, Karine Jean Identity Hire:
“As a candidate, didn’t President Biden say ‘There will not be another foot of wall constructed, except for what was appropriated in 2019.’ He said, ‘There will not be another foot of wall constructed in my administration.’ So, something changed. What?”
“You want us to break the law. Is that what you want? You want us to not comply with the law.”
What a laugh! They don’t enforce the other immigration laws, so why start with this one? The Biden Administration is also ignoring a Supreme Court ruling on the illegality of relieving student loan debt. They don’t care about the law in that instance, so why do they appeal to the law now? This is a smokescreen: they do not want to admit that building a portion of the border wall contradicts their earlier stance that border walls are racist:
“A wall does nothing to deter people who are fleeing poverty and violence from coming to the United States. Walls only serve to push migrants into more remote areas, increasing their chances of death. It is a cruel policy.” Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

Are you confused yet? How can the progressive and enlightened Biden Administration advance the racist Trump policy? But then, racists are as racists do. Furthermore, the Biden Administration had to waive 26 restrictions, most of them environmental restrictions, to move forward on the wall. Do they hate the environment too? Who are the good guys and who are the bad guys now? It is so hard to tell any longer.
Let’s return to the great comedian-philosopher Louis C.K. Perhaps, he can help us make sense of all this.
https://townhall.com/videos/2023/09/20/louis-cks-insane-take-on-border-security-n2628728

“It’s not a good way to live-in a gated community. If you let folks pour in, like any other wave it will kinda slosh, and then you’ll all just-things will be different. I don’t know, like-what will really happen? A bunch of people-will they just come with knives and start killing everybody? I don’t think so, I don’t know what will happen, it’s just weird to me.”
Well, Mr. Comedian-Philosopher, we actually know what will happen after all the sloshing because it is happening right now. Please look down from the heights of your penthouse patio to the streets of your beloved city where hundreds of thousands of immigrants have arrived. Isn’t it finally time to surrender your gated community? Please tell me I did misunderstood your meaning and that your you too are not a racist and a hypocrite?
Everything they do is done for people to see: They make their phylacteries wide and the tassels on their garments long; they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues; they love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and to be called ‘Rabbi’ by others.
The greatest among you will be your servant. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted. Matthew 23: 5-7,11-12
Ben and Jerry: Maybe They can do Better
I love Ben and Jerry’s ice cream, but my wife boycotted them due to their extreme political stances (and the product’s high cost as well). Life is definitely hard sometimes.
Ben and Jerry have told us that Mount Rushmore and other American icons really belong to the Native Americans. So, in accordance with Ben and Jerry, the great ice cream magnate philosophers, I propose the following: do not allow one more immigrant from Mexico or anywhere else into our nation because they might eventually take over lands that don’t belong to them. Louis C.K. hasn’t left his penthouse yet, but Ben and Jerry can set the example instead. Ben and Jerry can leave their corporate headquarters in Vermont, so the Abenaki Indians can resume their rightful place as sovereigns of this nation. The Abenakis and other tribes, not the Biden Administration or any other phony American representative, can decide how many more immigrants, if any, are allowed in from Mexico. Problem solved. QED.
ben-and-jerry-hq-is-on-native-american-land

We do not all live in gated communities or have large corporate headquarters, but we can all sacrifice by giving up Ben and Jerry’s ice cream for the cause of immigration as well as the cause of the Native Americans. Life is hard, for sure, but surely, for these good causes you are willing to sacrifice?
We can solve multiple problems with our cultural icons leading the way for us. We have the moment. We have the opportunity. Let us seize it. Let us end racism and set the world right again.
