Novak Djokovic, Dr. Redfield, Moderna CEO, and the COVID Cultists

Blaze host, Steve Deace likens Dr. Fauci and his COVID followers to a cult. They have shown a religious fervor to follow narratives which never panned out, misleading millions of Americans along the way.

Many scoff at the claims and tactics of these COVID religious zealots, but they don’t push back enough to effectively counter. There have been few consequences for the unconscionable COVID policies. The most guilty have vociferously blamed others, a massive transference of guilt often against solutions or individuals who might have helped us weather this crisis. Deace would have Dr. Fauci drawn and quartered, adding: “after a fair trial, of course.” I am not so certain of the appropriate punishment myself, but without consequences for the last three years, the same awful tactics will be replayed repeatedly.

The Numbers

The numbers are very telling. We just exited the third winter with COVID (SARS-COV-2) in our midst. Winter has always been the worst season with almost 40% of the deaths occurring during these months, yet the decline this winter is substantial:

Winter 2020-21: 221,000 deaths (74,000/month)
Winter 2021-22: 170,000 deaths (57,000/month)
Winter 2022-23: 37,000 deaths (12,000/month)

The death rate has fallen ten straight weeks. The daily rate is now around 200 per day, the lowest since COVID became a thing, and a rate less than cancer, heart attacks, accidents, strokes, lower respiratory disease, Alzheimer’s, and diabetes; COVID is now the eighth leading cause of death dropping from third its first two years. COVID is still more deadly than the average flu, but not by much at this point. We can be concerned, but should not be obsessed with the disease itself.

Summer 2021, I believed COVID was fading away. It roared back twice more after a low point July 2021. However, COVID has not flared up again in almost fourteen months. Hopefully, the current lull is more lasting. I am a bit more confident about that statement today.

The main problem has always been the response. The COVID religious zealots told us we need do two only things to save us from this scourge: vaccinate and mask. Have you noticed hardly anyone masks today (except for a few medical facilities which dispense the flimsiest of masks)? Masks have not been prevalent for more than a year. Also, 2021 was the year of the vaccine, but vaccinations declined precipitously in 2022. Please take a moment to ponder this paradox: why did the virus thrive under the vaccinate and mask paradigm in 2020 and 2021, but decline when most of us finally eschewed the expert’s advice in 2022 and 2023?

Could it possibly mean the experts, the religious zealots, were wrong? God forbid. I trusted the experts in 2020 myself, but the irrefutable evidence changed my mind. Here is what is really scary: they are still medical experts, just dishonest experts. They still possess far more medical knowledge than most of us, but they have shown they cannot be trusted. They know the truth, but for whatever reason do not trust us with it. Thankfully, too many of their colleagues exposed them and the rest of us non-medical folks can interpret the data with our own eyes.

Still, the religious fervor cannot be so easily quelled; it continues after the facts have shown the COVID zealots to be following a false god. The only question we still puzzle over is why they persist in this Quixotic mission.

Novak Djokovic

Novak Djokovic is perhaps the greatest tennis player ever. Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, his contemporaries, may have an equal claim, but Djokovic is poised to pass them in the record books.

However, his fame does not protect him from the COVID religious zealots. Because he is unvaccinated, the U.S. government banned him from attending two U.S. tournaments this month. In March 2023, when COVID deaths are at their lowest point ever, the U.S. government has taken a strident stance against his entry. During the 2021 U.S. Open, at the height of COVID, Djokovic, still unvaccinated, was allowed to play. His fate for this September’s tournament remains undetermined. Does any of this make sense?

Djokovic surrendered his number one ranking after being banned from the two U.S. tournaments this month. His stubborn conviction also meant he forfeited the opportunity to compete in the 2021 Australian Open, another of tennis’s prestigious grand slams. Australia originally imposed a three-year ban on Djokovic, but relented in 2023. Djokovic promptly won his tenth Aussie Open two months ago. Djokovic might be alone on the list of Grand Slam tournaments won, but for his lost opportunities.

Still, for him, the principle matters more than his legacy. We need more like him willing to take a stand against the COVID zealots.

Djokovic says he has no regrets. Others might be outraged at government officials or lament lost chances at distinguishing themselves further, but Djokovic remains calm and displays a remarkable conviction and certainty. Djokovic, well spoken and speaker of 11 languages (for fun watch this: djokovic-speaking-10-languages) is no dummy either. He knows what he is doing; he knows what he is up against, and he is taking the most direct way to expose and defeat their political nonsense:

https://www.cnn.com/2023/03/21/tennis/novak-djokovic-no-regrets-losing-world-no-1-spt-intl/index.html

The Australian three-judge court which determined his fate in 2021 wanted to give the impression they were standing on principle as well:

“An iconic world tennis star may influence people of all ages, young or old, but perhaps especially the young and the impressionable, to emulate him. This is not fanciful; it does not need evidence.

“Even if Mr. Djokovic did not win the Australian Open the capacity of his presence in Australia playing tennis to encourage those who would emulate or wish to be like him is a rational foundation for the view that he might foster anti-vaccination sentiment.”

Yes, I also hope he has an influence on young people. Who would I rather my youngsters emulate: a) someone who relented to the pressure and was vaccinated in order to further his personal glory OR b) someone who refused to relent to pressure, stood for what he believed in, and thereby relinquished opportunities for more glory?

Furthermore, Djokovic has been proven right. The facts stand for themselves: high vaccination rates/high mask usage/high death rates in 2020 and 2021; substantially lower vaccination rates/low mask usage/substantially lower death rates in 2022 and 2023. The testimony from hundreds of brave MDs willing to be criticized for their skepticism confirms his choice as well: from the local (Dr. M, our pediatrician):

My opinion has not changed for a while now regarding risk, vaccines and long term outcomes. I find no evidence that vaccines are useful for anyone outside of a high risk group. Children over 2 years of age absolutely have no scientific need to vaccinate once naturally infected. Between 6 months (cannot vaccinate under this age) and 2 years of age is a parent’s choice based on the very small but real risk of a negative outcome. High risk individuals should always consider vaccinating on a biannual basis or based on the most current data.

to the national (Dr. Lapado, Florida Surgeon General):

https://www.tampabay.com/news/health/2023/02/17/ladapo-surgeon-general-coronavirus-vaccines-mrna-vaers-safety/

“These findings … more likely reflect a pattern of increased risk from mRNA COVlD-19 vaccines,” Ladapo wrote, calling for greater “transparency” from the federal government about the risks associated with the vaccines.

Ladapo, an appointee of Gov. Ron DeSantis, has gone further than most public health officials in advising against getting a COVID-19 vaccine. In March, he said healthy children should not get the shots. In October, the Department of Health released a study of death certificates that it used as justification for guidance warning men ages 18-39 against mRNA COVID-19 vaccines.

Dr. Ladapo also reminds us vaccine efficacy turns negative after seven months, meaning the chances of contracting COVID are initially low for the vaccinated but seven months later are higher for the vaccinated than for the unvaccinated. The evidence is undisputed by the experts; they simply ignore it.

Dr. Redfield’s Testimony

Dr. Robert Redfield, former CDC Director, is a study in contrasts. In 2020, he was part of the Coronavirus task force and collaborated with Dr. Fauci. He even threatened to resign his own post if Dr. Fauci was fired by President Trump. Yet, during testimony to Congress in March 2023, he tells us that three years earlier Dr. Fauci shut him out of discussions regarding the origins of COVID:

“I think I made it very clear in January [2020] to all of them why we had to aggressively pursue this,” he said. “And I let them know as a virologist that I didn’t see that this was anything like SARS or MERS. … And they knew that was how I was thinking.”

“I didn’t know there was a February 1 conference call until the Freedom of Information came out with the emails, and I was quite upset, as the CDC director, that I was excluded from those discussions,” he said.

“Why would they do this?” Comer asked.

“Because I had a different point of view,” Redfield responded. “And I was told that they had made a decision that they would keep this confidential until they came up with a single narrative — which I will argue is antithetical to science.”

“Science never selects a single narrative. We foster — as my colleagues just said — we foster debate. And we’re confident that with debate, science will eventually get to the truth.”

Wasn’t the origin a relevant and important factor in 2020? Might a better understanding and consensus have influenced policy? Perhaps Dr. Redfield should have told us sooner what a fiend Dr. Fauci is. This former NY Times science editor backs up Dr. Redfield:

https://nypost.com/2023/03/08/former-nyt-editor-slams-fauci-for-discrediting-lab-leak/

The current FBI Director, Christopher Wray, also now gives credence to the lab leak theory as well:

“The FBI has for quite some time now assessed that the origins of the pandemic are most likely a potential lab incident,”

Stanford professor and MD, Jay Bhattacharya says we knew all this long ago:

Dr. Bhattacharya and two other “fringe epidemiologists” from Harvard and Oxford were also targeted by Dr. Fauci for daring to offer an alternative to the government strategy (per Dr. Fauci’s FOIA released correspondence). I know who I stand with in that dispute.

Three years ago, in April 2020, President Trump gave credence to the lab leak theory, but we were told back then that “the leading theory from medical officials” was that it was from a Chinese “wet food market”.

https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/30/politics/trump-intelligence-community-china-coronavirus-origins/index.html

Maybe I discredited myself by mentioning Trump here? Perhaps it is better to back Dr. Fauci, the man who is science incarnate? On the other hand, Dr. Fauci’s latest dismissal of the lab leak theory, which Dr. Redfield now says originated with him, sounds like the “dog ate my homework” excuse:

A lab leak could be that someone was out in the wild, maybe looking for different types of viruses in bats, got infected, went into a lab, and was being studied in a lab, and then came out of the lab. But if that’s the definition of lab leak, then that’s still a natural occurrence,

Perhaps the military official placed in charge of the Wuhan lab in 2019 before all the COVID mess started might have brought the bats into the lab for another express purpose? Even three years ago it was a reasonable supposition to suspect a Chinese leak; there is ample circumstantial evidence still.

Of course, be my guest if you prefer Dr. Fauci who is supported by supposed comedians like Steven Colbert and the Daily Show’s Haan Minhaj.

Dr. Fauci goes on a Mission Trip

New video recently emerged of Dr. Fauci and DC Mayor Muriel Browser canvassing DC neighborhoods in support of vaccination:

video-from-2021-shows-fauci-dc-mayor-being-rejected-on-vax-tour

The video clips demonstrate the zeal with which Dr. Fauci marketed the vaccine. I find interesting a few things Dr. Fauci said during the tour:

“The only reason I’m talking to you right now, as close as we are, is that I’ve been vaccinated,” she says. “If thousands of people like you don’t get vaccinated, you’re going to let this virus continue to percolate in this country and in this world.”

Well, hundreds of millions were vaccinated and many of those multiple times. Did it stop, or even slow, the virus for two full years?

Fauci explains that the technology to develop the vaccine had been in the works for two decades, adding that some 30,000 people died from the flu in 2020 compared to the roughly 600,000 deaths from COVID-19 as of the time of the video.

However, the man who invented the mRNA technology twenty years ago (Dr. Robert Malone) says it should not have been used for vaccines.

“No, on the very, very, very rare chance that you do get it even if you’re vaccinated, it’s a very — you don’t even feel sick. It’s like you don’t even know you got infected. It’s very, very good at protecting you,” he says.

Empirical evidence has shown the vaccine does not stop transmission (a fact acknowledged even by the CDC by August 2021), and after a short duration, it does not protect at all. Vaccine duration wanes further with each successive booster. What is he talking about?

“It’s so crazy. I mean, they’re not doing it because they say they don’t want to do it. They’re Republicans. They don’t like to be told what to do. And we got to break that, unpack that,” he adds.

Yes, blame the Republicans and Trump. Maybe that’s how you got so many to go along with your lies for so long.

Rand Paul Questions Moderna CEO.

Moderna CEO, Stephane Bancel, has joined the COVID cult as well. Senator Rand Paul (also an MD), asks Dr. Bancel if there is a higher incidence of myocarditis risk after taking Moderna’s COVID vaccine. Senator Paul should have stipulated the FDA added a myocarditis warning to their vaccine in June 2021 (https://www.cnn.com/2021/06/25/health/fda-covid-vaccine-heart-warning/index.html).

Dr. Bancel claims the risk of myocarditis is lower after taking the Moderna vaccine. Really? This claim was made in spite of the FDA label warning along with countless unexplained deaths of young adult males the last two years, and six peer reviewed studies countering the claim, studies which Senator Paul entered into the record after questioning. This short two minute clip tells the story: https://video.foxbusiness.com/v/6323094052112#sp=show-clips

Dr. Albert Bourla, Pfizer CEO, also disgraced himself a couple months ago at the World Economic Forum (what was he doing there?) when he refused to answer any charges leveled by Rebel News reporters.

We must have consequences. The COVID zealots should not be allowed to further mislead the public. They must face some penalty for the damage done. I don’t call for excessive penalties, but I would settle for some genuine accountability and real consequences for such awful behavior.

Dr. M Speaks: Not Much Left to Say

Dr. M, our pediatrician, approaches COVID strictly from a medical perspective. In addition to the paragraph I quoted above, this is all he had to say in COVID Update #82.

Omicron XBB.1.5 is now the only major player in the Covid space. We are many weeks into this stable run of this variant. We are in a very steady state with disease risk and morbidity.

North Carolina’s Department of Health and Human Services notes a flatline of Covid associated hospital ICU use for almost 1 calendar year now. Volumes are not changing despite the variant shifts.

I understand doc. Why can’t the religious zealots, who must continue to stir up fear, put it aside, or at least admit to a few mistakes?
